Have you ever tried the "What's Related?" button in Netscape Communicator 4.06 (or Beta 4.5)? This sends the URL of every page you visit thereafter to a site owned by Netscape. Netscape acquires a complete list of every web page that interests you. The "Whats Related?" button, by connecting with www.rl.netscape.com, collects an electronic trail of your web activity as you wander from site to site.
To prevent this you can:
Stop using version 4.06.
Never click on "What's Related?"
You can disable the "What's Related" button by going to EDIT, PREFERENCES, NAVIGATOR, SMART BROWSING and uncheck the "ENABLE "WHAT'S RELATED?" box.
Paranoia runs deep! Now that everyone is frantically disabling their Netscape, let's get a grip! The Internet is no where near as scary as it's made out to be. The only information sent to Netcenter is IP addresses and URLs, the same information that search engines collect while a user performs a search. This is less information than sites which use cookies and forms accumulate on visitors. Netscape collects no specific personal information. Netcenter's full privacy policy can be found http://home.netscape.com/netcenter/privacy.html
